"Where is he?" Erestor asked Celebrķan and her ladies as he entered the
solar.
"Well he certainly isn't in here. He was supposed to come by for a fitting of
his new formal robes an hour ago," Celebrķan huffed as she held up a set of
robes in a deep pink color. "The tailor was a little upset to be kept waiting
and I finally had to reschedule."
Erestor turned to continue his search elsewhere thinking he would hide if his
wife made him robes in that color also. Seeing Gildor and some of his men
returning from the training grounds, he asked them.
"Have any of you seen Master Elrond?" he called.
"No, we have not my Lord," came the reply.
Now Erestor was growing concerned and upset. He had already had to sit through a
trade agreement with the men from the neighboring villages. They had taken
advantage of Lord Elrond not being there to be difficult and to make unwanted
advances upon him. Within the hour, another meeting, this time with dwarves, was
expected to take place. He lost his temper too easily when dealing with them,
and just knew that it would happen if Elrond was not there to keep everyone in
check. They enjoyed baiting him, damned dwarves.
"Glorfindel," he shouted as he saw the captain coming up the path from the
river.
"How may I be of assistance to you today?" he replied with a smile on his
face.
"Have you seen Elrond? He appears to be missing and no one has seen him for
hours," came the rattled question.
"Be still my friend, Elrond is not missing," Glorfindel sang to him.
"You have seen him then?" Erestor asked as he realized that Glorfindel was in a
playful mood.
"Yes," was all of the answer he received.
"Well? Where is he and what is he doing?" Erestor demanded.
"He is being Elrond," was the laughing answer Glorfindel gave him as he walked
off. Erestor just stood there looking perplexed.
Then it dawned on him.
`Elrond; being Elrond. Elrond. Elrond; elf of the firmament. Or, Elrond; elf of
the cave. Damn him,' Erestor thought. He was hiding in the caves behind the
waterfalls again. He knew Erestor disliked caves and would not come after him.
Then he saw Celebrķan talking to his wife and showing her the deep pink robes.
"Could this day become any worse?'
