“Are you sure bringing Haldir is a wise move?” Galadriel asked her husband
as they neared the outskirts of Mirkwood Forest. “He is rather promiscuous
and headstrong.”
“Bringing him will be in our favor,” Celeborn answered as they entered into
the tall trees bordering the forest. “You must remember that Thranduil has
never really accepted my marrying you because you are Noldor.”
“And Haldir will help us how?” she asked her husband as she sensed the
darkness that entangled these woods. “I would imagine he would cause trouble
as he seduces everyone.”
“He will serve as both a peace offering, and a tension reliever,” came the
cryptic reply.
“And how do you see him doing that?” she inquired as she could not imagine
the volatile warden being an asset here.
Instead of answering, Celeborn sent her a mental picture of what he had
planned. It wasn’t every day she saw a scene depicting her best March warden
in that situation. She tried to contain her laughter as she saw a naked
Haldir tied to Thranduil’s bedpost with rope. Covering his privates was a
big red bow. Yes, now she understood what her husband had meant. Haldir was
a perfect choice.
