used in this drabble): bastard sword

all, but written because my beta didn’t approve of how I had tried to use
the phrase ‘bastard sword’ in the Strider drabble. She liked this version.

“Some would call it a mongrel, this Andúril of yours.” The Elvish smith
examined his work with a critical eye. Despite his mastery, and the powerful
runes traced on the blade, even a novice would be able to tell where new
metal had been used to weld together the original pieces.
Aragorn chuckled grimly. “Some would say the same about its master. Few
expect to find a future king in the guise of a weather-beaten Ranger.”
“Few expect a broken blade to be re-forged, however noble its heritage.
Here, take it. Wield your bastard sword with pride, King of Men.”
