Title: Rejection Author: Zhie Rating: PG-13 at most Email: zhiester@gmail.com Word Count: 284 Summary: A series of near drabbles about Glorfindel’s return, and Erestor’s uncertainty. Characters: Glorfindel, Erestor, Lindir, Elrond, Gildor The admission came tumbling out quite easily. “I keep having these dreams about him.” “More daydreams, or are you thinking about him at night now as well?” Lindir was perched in a tree, one of his favorite places to sit and hum up new tunes. It also happened that beneath this tree was the favorite spot of Elrond’s chief counselor to come and sort out his troubles. Most of the time he was not very vocal, but now and then he would talk out his problems with the minstrel. Today’s problem was the one and only personal issue it seemed the counselor had – or wished to talk about. “At night,” said Erestor finally. If Lindir had not known Erestor’s true age, he would have mistaken the older elf for a young ellon indeed from his approach to the situation. Once again, he offered his usual advice. “Just go and knock on the door of his office and ask him if he wants to have dinner with you or something.” “Oh, I could never do that. No, no, I have no idea what his preferences are.” “I have heard he is quite open to the possibility of relationships with those of the same gender,” said Lindir kindly. Erestor sat on the ground shaking his head. “Even if that is true, he might only like other warriors. Or, perhaps he fancies red heads or blue eyes or some such thing. Maybe he hates what I like or I hate what he likes or... no, no, no…” Lindir stared down incredulously. “So you are just going to ignore your feelings and stick with your dreams and imagination?” “In my dreams, he cannot reject me,” replied Erestor sagely. |
