Author's Notes:
Notes: This started as a quickly written letter, and turned into a major project, including two trips out for supplies, including 'blood of Sindarin and Noldorin Elves'.

The story behind it: the letter was from Finrod to Galadriel, but left behind in Doriath somewhere, to be burned and bloodied in the sack of Doriath.

The time on this was taken up by actually figuring out the tengwar, folding and sealing the letter, then breaking the seal, carrying it around for the weekend to crinkle it, then burning the letter and 'bleeding' on it (calligraphy ink).

I wanted the letter to tell two stories -- that original story that Felagund tells his sister, and the later story of the deaths of her cousins in Doriath.

Pictures are not the best, but I'll try to get better ones later.

Beloved sister,

How are you? I write to you in haste for there is much work for me to do. I do miss you so and hope your beloved is treating you kindly. Alas, how I miss Amarie, but my task now shall keep my thoughts from dwelling upon her, at least a little while.

Ah, I have yet to give you the news. I found it! The cave of which King Thingol spoke, and the Dwarven folk have agreed to allow me leave to build a fortress of my design. It shall be as glorious as Menegroth. I wish you might see now the plans I have for this land, but they are much too extensive to be recreated. I look forward to your approval once it reaches fruition, and request one thing more of you.

My home is your home. Will you join me in Nargothrond? Your beloved is welcome as well. I hope you might at the least come to see it when I have finished.

Until then, I shall close my correspondence with the name given to me by the Dwarves, for they have accepted me almost as one of their own, despite my ability to hit my head on the stalactites in the caves.

May your paths be green and the breeze behind you. Be careful, dearest sister.

Yours truly,

Artafinde Felagund
