The rays of the winter morning drifted into the bedroom through the sheer white curtains of the shut balcony doors. The air outside was chilled and the sunlight not as warming as its summer counterpart; however, those inside were not bothered by the cold. Elrond Half-Elven began to awaken and felt the warm, petite body snuggled against his chest and the legs intertwined with his own. With his arm draped over the still form of Celebrķan, his love and wife, he watched how she peacefully slept beside him.

While looking upon her silver-blonde tresses, Elrond smiled and pulled her closer against him. Celebrķan shifted and sighed, her hand reaching for Elrond's arm and squeezing it tightly against her. Elrond felt within his heart and chest the nearly bursting feelings of love for her as he watched her thusly. The elleth who had stolen his heart so long ago and had borne him two sons, made him feel whole and fulfilled. He could never imagine what his life would have been like without her, yet he only later realized how alone he had been before meeting her.

"Good morning, melindo," Celebrķan whispered, her eyelids fluttering then settling closed as she snuggled into her pillow and his embrace.

"Did you sleep well?" Elrond asked and placed a gentle kiss on her temple.

"Mmm hmm," Celebrķan murmured contentedly. "After last night's activities, I was thoroughly exhausted."

"Then I expect you are rested enough for today's events?" Elrond whispered in her ear, kissing lightly down her neck.

His mouth roamed freely across her body and with a swift move, Elrond sneaked away his hand away from her grip and began to wander across her frame where shortly before his lips had kissed the soft skin. Celebrķan giggled when his fingertips tickled her peaked and sensitive nipples through her satin nightgown.

"What is it you are plotting?" Celebrķan yawned.

"I do not know…" Elrond said, a mischievous smile spreading across his lips, but he did not stop his venturing mouth. "You could say it is a surprise."

"Oh, do not tease me!" Celebrķan sighed and turned to face him.

"Yet, you look so exquisite when I do surprise you," Elrond countered.

"We shall see about that," Celebrķan replied, her hands now roving under Elrond's night shift.

A loud commotion outside their room resounded and caught their attention. Turning to face the door, Elrond and Celebrķan both heard a bang as if a door was thrown open. Thunderous footfalls pounded through their sitting room before a heavy thud hit their door that led to their bedroom. It was no shock to them when two dark-haired elf-children finally barged their way in, nearly collapsing upon each other once they got the door open.

"Ada! It snowed in the night!" the first one exclaimed.

"Icicles are hanging from the eves like glass swords!" the second added to his brother's words.

At this interruption, Elrond and Celebrķan looked to one another with a shared sigh, especially when the two brothers jumped onto the bed and stole the space between them. However, their sons' innocent excitement at the season's first snow and continued chatter about it brought happy smiles to their faces.

"Did it now?" Elrond asked. "Then we will have to go out for some fun this morning."

"Oh, my lord and lady, I must apologize!" came the timid voice of Brithiliel, the nanny. "I stepped away to collect their clothing for the day and all I knew next was they were gone and running like a horde of invading orcs down the hallway!"

"It is quite all right," Celebrķan said, managing to pull herself up a little from the quilts. "We will be getting up momentarily, too."

"Elladan, Elrohir. Go with Brithiliel and get dressed," Elrond ordered them, and then explained. "When your Naneth and I are ready as well we will go out in the snow."

"Yay!" the twins cheered in unison before clamoring off the bed toward the door.

"I want to make a fort in the snow like Lord Glorfindel showed us last winter," Elladan said.

"Maybe take a sleigh ride in the forest!" Elrohir's voice was growing fainter as Brithiliel closed the door behind them.

"That was not the surprise you spoke of earlier," Celebrķan said.

"Nay, I had not expected them either," Elrond chuckled. "Though, I did know we would have snow this morn."

"Did you?" Celebrķan asked and perked a blonde eyebrow with mock astonishment.

"Come, we best be getting out of bed," Elrond said, throwing back the quilts. "I am afraid if we do not soon, we shall have some bouncing, impatient elves on our hands."

* * * * *
Celebrķan, watching from afar at the top of the porch stairway, stood still and silent with a steady gaze on the open courtyard. Evening was approaching quickly and the daylight was disappearing in the distance. Three figures stood against the sun as dark, shadowy silhouettes with horses at their sides, and in the meantime low voices whispered over the air of the approaching night. Moments later, Celebrķan felt Elrond walked up behind her, encircling her slim waist with his arm.

"There is nothing to worry yourself over," Elrond said quietly in her ear.

"I sense the same apprehension in you," she replied.

"That is true," Elrond said, bestowing a lingering kiss on her cheek. "They have trained and prepared long for this."

"It seems not that long ago they were half our size, gallivanting around Imladris causing mischief and chaos," Celebrķan reminisced. "Now my sons are well past their first century and going on their first patrol."

"I have the same thoughts," Elrond confided. "However, we both know that Glorfindel is more than capable of protecting them if need be."

"They no longer are the elf-children I could hold and sing to sleep with their soft heads resting on my shoulders," Celebrķan sighed, her eyes turning to the golden-haired elf standing beside her sons. "They are old enough to begin their own families."

"You have done well," Elrond said, tightening his hold. "They know it and will always be ours."

"Farewell, Naneth! Adar, too!" Elladan waved from atop his steed.

"We will return soonest," Elrohir said, seemingly knowing their concerns. "Perhaps we will even catch a rabbit or stag while hunting and bring it for a feast!"

Elrond and Celebrķan raised their hands at their send-off until the outlines of the three upon their horses disappeared into the mist and darkness of the forest. Once they were out of sight, Elrond led his wife inside their home, her head heavy against his shoulder. While he tended to the fire in the fireplace of their bedroom, Celebrķan went into their bathing chamber and donned a nightgown and soft robe. Elrond then shed his own court robes, laying them on the couch before returning with the fire poker to the flames. He heard Celebrķan settle on the cushions of the sofa behind him and sensed the sudden uncertainty in her as she shifted on the furniture.

"I have been thinking…" Celebrķan began. "That we should have another child."

Turning to face his lover, Elrond eyed Celebrķan curiously. He saw the need in her soul, the desire to hold another babe in her arms, and faraway expression of memories. Elladan and Elrohir had been a handful even as infants since there were two at once; however, in Elrond's mind Celebrķan was simply magnificent at organizing what was needed and caring for the twins. Walking over to Celebrķan, Elrond kneeled in front of her and took her dainty hands in his larger ones. He squeezed them before reaching up to kiss her deeply.

"You wish it?" he asked her and she nodded. "Then I shall make that come true for you."

"Then you yearn for one as well?" Celebrķan queried, happiness spreading on her face.

"I do," Elrond said with a smile.

Celebrķan wrapped her arms around his neck, her grip tight but excited. Elrond removed himself gently whereupon she held his face in her hands and leaned down to kiss him lovingly. He encouraged their embrace, taking her deeper and snaking his arms up her legs. Celebrķan shivered from his touch, anticipating where this love play they had initiated would take them. She sighed into his mouth, the tension and worries of the day melting away while his hands roved and massaged her muscles, and then hugged her curves.

Elrond rose, taking her hands and lead Celebrķan to their bed. The gaze he held her in was genuine and he saw how her body trembled beneath his cursory sweep. When they arrived at the edge of the bed, Elrond untied the knot of Celebrķan's robe and let it pool on the ground at her feet. Their lips met hungrily and Elrond had a moment spark in his mind as he remembered the passion of their first years after their bonding.

Her hands moved quickly and deftly untied Elrond's leggings. Then Celebrķan pulled out his shift, urging Elrond to pull it over his head. Once he complied, Celebrķan claimed his mouth again so needful of keeping their contact and feeling his warm skin under her fingertips. She did not lose control of her desires when his hands began to pull up the skirt of her nightgown, nails lightly running against her outer thighs and hips as he went higher.

When Celebrķan threw her head back enticingly, Elrond took the chance and moved his mouth over the most sensitive areas of her neck and shoulders. Knowing each of her secret pleasures, Elrond exploited them with his lustful demeanor and power. He managed to get Celebrķan's nightgown over her head and tossed it hastily aside before pulling their heated, naked bodies together. Their want and ecstasy electrified the air around them, pushing them further toward the culmination of their coupling.

"Lay down," he commanded in her ear and she complied.

Celebrķan held onto his hand while she moved to the edge of the bed and crawled backwards across the mattress. Elrond's steady stare saw every move she made, his stormy-gray eyes intense and smoldering in the dark with the glow of the fire in their depths. Tugging with her fingers, she urged him to join her and Elrond obeyed. She sighed and moaned when his mouth found her hard nipples and plush breasts, kneading them gently with each tongue flick and suckle. Celebrķan slipped her fingers under Elrond's leggings and pulled them over his hips then he threw them off with a kick.

Elrond's essence enveloped Celebrķan immediately, his arms creating a protective cocoon around her and his dark hair became a curtain around their faces. Slowly but surely, she felt his hard length inching up past her knees and Celebrķan gladly opened up to Elrond, allowing him to take her fully. The warmth of him within her body intensified their intimacy and Celebrķan's limbs and inner muscles thrummed with the rhythm of their movements.

"I love you," Celebrķan gasped, clutching Elrond's forearms.

"And I you," he whispered back.

Each thrust and moan took them to greater heights. Every new sensation and cascading spiral, which slowly spun out of control, brought them closer to their peaks. Yet, they also fed the growing power between them that would craft life in their union. It held all that was unique to them, but also of their shared love for one another fed the budding creation they were making. Finally, when all seemed to be too much and the zenith of their love play was nearly there, a release came like a powerful wave crashing through all reality, consciousness, and thought until there was simply joy.

After what seemed like ages, rational thought returned to them. Their bodies were joined as one and neither wished to move apart any time soon. Eventually, Elrond moved aside Celebrķan, resting his head on her chest and shoulder. She held him against herself and felt his thoughts and emotions still vibrating through her until it coalesced into a central awareness within her. Elrond reached across Celebrķan and placed a warm hand on his beloved's stomach with a knowing smile. The beauty of their efforts and energy emanated with the glow of the Eldar from within Celebrķan and he could feel the fėa reaching out to his own.

"She will be a strong one," he said. "Like her mother."

"Indeed, she will," Celebrķan smiled, tears in her eyes as her unborn daughter seemingly danced like a butterfly inside her.
