Complete Rules
What is the Stocking Stuffer Swap?
It is a trading of fanfics between writers. Each participant
requests a fanfic with a particular pairing and rating and then writes a
fanfic for one of the other participants. Your task will be assigned to
you anonymously - that is, you won't know who is writing your fanfic and
you won't know whose fanfic you are writing until the posting of them on
Saturday, December 22, 2007. This is an adult HET fanfic
exchange with an ELF emphasis (that is, at least one member of
each requested pairing must be an elf) - if you wish to participate in a

Release Dates
All participants must register by Monday,
October 1, 2007. You will receive your assignment by Monday,
October 8, 2007. All entries are due in by
Saturday, December 8, 2007. Entries may be turned in sooner
than the last day, and it is encouraged that you don't wait until the
last minute to send your entry due to technical errors that may occur.
Entries will be available for viewing on Saturday, December 22, 2007.
Stories may not be released to other archives,
lists, or anywhere else online until December 25, 2007.
All stories must be new works, that is, this can't be a work you already
started prior to getting your assignment.
Requests
All requests will be paired up with a writer as best as possible.
Every writer will try their best to fulfill the request they are given,
however, do remember, what you envision as the story you want may not be
the story you receive. On the other hand, if you are given a request
for a romantic tale of Legolas' love for Galadriel, it should be assumed
that you aren't going to turn around and write the angsty tale of Arwen
and Erestor. If you make a request, please be sure that you are willing
to return the favor and write a request for someone else. If you do not
have the time to write a story but still wish to participate, please
consider volunteering as a beta reader instead.
Format
Please submit your entry as either a Word Document (.doc) or Text
File (.txt) attachment. Please name your file with your name
followed by an underscore and the word 'swap'. (eg: zhie_swap.doc or
zhie_swap.txt). Your entry will be archived in a special section of Parmasambe on the Little Balrog network. (You do not need to be registered at Little Balrog to participate, but there are lots of fun and exciting things to do
at Little Balrog, so you might as well join in! Fun stuff like this happens
at Little Balrog all year long!
Please do not copy and paste the text into the body
of an email. Entries should be sent to

transferred to jubatus_rex using Yahoo! Instant Messenger. Please

Word Count
Your entry must be at least 2,000 words in length. This assures that
everyone will receive a substantial piece of writing. It is also
suggested that you do not write more than 5,000 words, to ensure that
the works are all generally the same length.
Het, het, and only het
This is an adult fiction swap, so stories will be in the PG13 to NC17
range. All stories should be het, and only het. That is, all pairings
should be one male and one female. For those wishing to
participate in a slash fic swap, please go to the
Secret Santa Fic Swap.
Limitations
No child pornography will be allowed. No stories with extreme
violence, rape, non-consensual sex, or bestiality are allowed. Please
do not request any of these, and do not write any of these topics,
either. You will make baby giraffes cry if you do, and there's nothing
worse than a sobbing baby giraffe.
Beta Readers
A request is being made for betas for this event. The only
requirement is that you are not participating in the writing part of the
swap. This is so that writers will not accidentally end up having the
person they are writing for beta their fic. Anyone who offers to beta
read will be matched to writers who request a beta when they fill out
the submission form. To volunteer as a beta, please fill out the beta
form. Writers are not required to use a beta reader.
Artists
While the writing is going on, a list of all of the pairings will be
available on this site. Artists looking for a little holiday
inspiration are encouraged to participate by claiming a pairing and
creating a drawing, photo manipulation, or other such work of art.
These items will then accompany the appropriate stories when posted, and
will be available in the Dream Elf Art Gallery or Adult Gallery.
Artists will be allowed to release their works on sites, lists and
archives other than Dream Elf on December 25, 2007, however, they can
load their works to the Dream Elf Galleries at any time before that point and may distribute the link.
And Finally...
Every attempt will be made to fill everyone's stocking with something
lovely this holiday season. In cases where the request can not be
filled, a story as close as possible to the original request will be
offered. The main thing is to have fun writing and to have fun reading
when the stories are posted.
