He hugged his pillow, sighed softly to himself. Nestled into bed, where it was too quiet and he was feeling so lonesome he could almost cry.

Worried thoughts, somber songs, and general melancholy accompanied his day. Clutching the fluffy pillow closer, he could still detect his lover's scent upon it, and a single tear slipped down.

"What did I say about not crying?"

Surely, it was his mind playing tricks, but he turned and looked anyway. Knelt beside the bed, there he was. But was he? Reaching out, there was a gasp when he learned he was real, and they embraced, one in relief, one content
to be home.

"Elrohir and I are still needed elsewhere." The words shattered the minstrel's briefly perfect world.

"I understand," came the strong reply that belied his fears.

Nuzzles came next, as the lithe warrior, by need and not by choice, joined his lover in bed. "We still have tonight," he whispered, and that made everything right in the world once more, if only for a little while.
